Gardening

The pupils and staff of Scoil Bhríde have a natural affinity with the outdoors and we take great pride in our surroundings. The school garden is an area much loved by all. Still in its infancy, it is a space which we hope to watch develop and grow over the years. We have a vegetable patch which boasts new potatoes, lettuce, turnips, scallions, onions and beetroot during the school year. We have a wild flower garden, to encourage all elements of wildlife on our school grounds. We recently invested in a giant butterfly garden and were in prime position to watch our 10 caterpillars grow into butterflies. They were then released into our wild garden. We grow juicy tomatoes, which adorn our school entrance. Our pupils take part in planting at different stages during the school year and help to keep our school grounds looking beautiful throughout the seasons.
